Important Notice: There will be no tai chi classes from 18th April to 2nd May. There will be no Chinese painting classes from 17th April to 1st May.
Tai Chi Classes Classes are currently held at my home every Thursdays. One Thursday on basic fundamental techniques and one Thursday on Tai Chi application play.
Please email: anthonys_arts@hotmail.com, or text 0424 187 268 We place a lot of emphasis in understanding the basic and fundamental principles of tai chi to help strengthen and heal the body. I, myself as a teacher will personally correct postures and movement in hope to transmit what is the "right feeling" so qi can flow better. Tai chi is an internal act and it needs to be felt to understand the direction of practice.
Chinese Brush Painting Classes Location: Runcorn, Qld When: Wednesdays, 5pm Prices: Casual lesson: $40 5 lessons: $175 upfront (expires in 3 months) 10 lessons: $250 upfront (expires in 6 months)
Participants will be introduced to Chinese brush painting, learning a brief history how it came about and its relationship towards the development of Chinese characters of today. Not only will the participants take part in completing a final piece of painting through step by step instructions, but also bring awareness to their thoughts and reactions during the process. By doing this I also wish the participants can view this art as a mind and character development. Like how ancient Chinese scholars lived, wisdom is nurtured through continuous reflection of oneself. Some examples will be:
Overcoming the fear of making mistakes - courage
If we make a mistake, correct it without shame (lower the ego) - humbleness
Action without hesitation (no second thoughts) - sincerity
Patience and discipline (practice makes perfect) - consistency & perseverance
Accepting frustration is the key of freeing the mind - detachment
2020 - 2023 University Queensland: Chinese Brush Painting
My first year of teaching is 2019 at University Queensland, teaching Chinese brush painting with collaboration with calligraphy master Eric Lin. Although this is volunteer work, I really enjoy the company of like minded people who appreciates Chinese artistic culture.
For those interested in joining us in 2022:
2019 Upper Mt Gravatt State School, Chinese Club: Cartoon & Animation Character Drawing
So far we have finished semester 1 and now onto semester 2. The children who participated in Chinese Club at Mt Gravatt State School get to have fun learning how to draw, at the same time learning simple Chinese characters based on the things we draw. For example, "cartoon" in chinese is 卡通. With my study in animation, I get to spark children's' interest in Chinese with appealing subjects.
In semester 2 we are currently going into Chinese painting.
