Tai Chi Classes Thursday, 5:30-7:30pm at GOMA (Gallery of Modern Arts) *Private lessons available
For more info visit: brisbanechentaichi.weebly.com We place a lot of emphasis in understanding the basic and fundamental principles of tai chi. I, myself as a teacher will personally correct postures and movement in hope to transmit what is the "right feeling". Tai chi is an internal act and it needs to be felt to understand the direction of practice.
Relaxation is a balance of softness and hardness
unite the body and move as one
power is generated through relaxation
good alignment can improve execution of strength
Chinese Brush Painting Classes **The classes will be changed from Monday evenings to Wednesday evening starting from August 2021.
Participants will be introduced to Chinese brush painting, learning a brief history how it came about and its relationship towards the development of Chinese characters of today. Not only will the participants take part in completing a final piece of painting through step by step instructions, but also bring awareness to their thoughts and reactions during the process. By doing this I also wish the participants can view this art as a mind and character development. Like how ancient Chinese scholars lived, wisdom is nurtured through continuous reflection of oneself. Some examples will be:
Overcoming the fear of making mistakes - courage
If we make a mistake, correct it without shame (lessen ego) - humbleness
Action without hesitation (no second thoughts) - sincerity
Patience and discipline (practice makes perfect) - consistency & perseverance
Accepting frustration is the key of freeing the mind - detachment
2019 University Queensland: Chinese Brush Painting
This year is my first year teaching at UQ, teaching Chinese brush painting with collaboration with Master Eric Lin. Although this is volunteer work, I really enjoy the company of like minded people who appreciates Chinese artistic culture.
2019 Upper Mt Gravatt State School, Chinese Club: Cartoon & Animation Character Drawing
So far we have finished semester 1 and now onto semester 2. The children who participated in Chinese Club at Mt Gravatt State School get to have fun learning how to draw, at the same time learning simple Chinese characters based on the things we draw. For example, "cartoon" in chinese is 卡通. With my study in animation, I get to spark children's' interest in Chinese with appealing subjects.
In semester 2 we are currently going into Chinese painting.
