My application of massage consists of a mixture of western and eastern style of remedial techniques. Western remedial massage treatment consists of checking the body's structural alignment and differentiate cause of pain, then followed by a process of treating muscles to aid structural alignment in order to ease pain. Techniques include trigger point, myofacial release, muscle energy technique, stretching and mobilisation.

With eastern style of treatment (also known as traditional Chinese medicine) consists of understanding patients’ health holistically, pinpointing the source of the manifested pain due to imbalance of organ/muscle function. TCM focuses on balance and maintaining the flow of qi, an energy force which keeps things alive.  Using techniques such as cupping, moxibustion, and acupressure are used to achieve better qi circulation.

Remedial massage is a treatment modality which manipulates the soft tissues of the body in order to achieve therapeutic effect. It uses relevant techniques, lubricants and movements according to the client's needs and response.

In TCM, it is believed all signs of pain are due to the blockage of qi (energy). By pressing certain acupoints, it unblocks and allows the better circulation of qi for pain relief and better health.

In TCM reading the tongue can give signs of organ energy imbalance, which may be one of the contributing factors to your pain.

Another way of understanding organ dysfunction is by feeling the rhythm and quality of your pulse.

To better understand customer's pain, practitioner will do test to find out whether if it's neuro, joint or muscular related.

Treatment Techniques

Acupuncture
Picture
Acupuncture is a healing method that places needles on certain points on the body to trigger your brain to heal itself. A method that has been practiced for 2000 years.
Acupressure
Picture
Acupressure is very similar to acupuncture, but instead of using needles pressure is applied to body alternatively. It is used to indirectly stimulate organs and improve better circulation. Most of the time, pain exist due to blockage of qi.
Stretching & Joint Mobilization
Picture
After the muscle are warmed up with massage, the practitioner may use stretching  or mobilizing techniques to lengthen tight muscles and loosen stiff joints. This also helps re-aligning the body to it's natural position.
Cupping
Picture
Cupping is an ancient healing technique used for more than a 1000 years ago and is still practiced today. It is to stimulate circulation and promote more blood to affected areas. There is a saying "where there is blood, there is life..." Both western and eastern ways of healing emphasize the promotion of blood production in order to improve health and speed up recovery rate.
Heat (Moxibustion & Heat lamp)
Picture
Moxibustion is a traditional Chinese medicine therapy using moxa made from dried mugwort. The use of moxa is to warm regions and meridian points with the intention of stimulating circulation through the points and inducing a smoother flow of blood and qi.
Reflexology

Did you know by massaging the feet you could also improve health?  The feet are a very sensitive limb so when it's massaged it releases us from stress. It also has lots of reflex points which are linked to our organs and by stimulating points health can be achieved.
